About the site
About the project.
A citizens’ site about how public money flows through healthcare in Poland — from the health contribution to salaries. We criticise mechanisms, not the profession.
In Poland, pay from public money in healthcare is only partly transparent. We know the statutory minimum wages and individual contracts, but nobody adds up how much in total goes to one person from several workplaces.
Why this site exists
We gather what can be established from publicly available sources — data, audit reports, court judgments, replies to requests for access to public information — and we show what cannot be established. We describe how the system works: where the money comes from, how it reaches hospitals and doctors, why there are staff shortages and what the statistics do not show.
We are not against doctors. We are in favour of public money being visible. That is why we call for public total payments for each person, under a permanent identifier and without names (in Polish).
Editorial principles
- 01.
A source for every number We use only publicly available documents, data and replies to requests for access to public information (FOI). Every number has a footnote with a link, so you can check it yourself.
- 02.
An estimate is not a fact We mark data as exact or estimated and do not mix the two categories. When something is not known, we say that it is not known — we do not guess.
- 03.
Mechanisms, not names We describe how the system works. We do not point to individual doctors and do not publish personal data. The exception is the roll-call results of votes in the Sejm (the lower house of the Polish parliament), which we show from the Sejm’s official data, without comment on the MPs.
- 04.
Quotation within the law We quote short passages and link to the original. We write our texts in our own words.
Who runs the site
The site is run anonymously. No foundation, company or organisation stands behind it. Judge us by our sources: every number has a footnote with a link to a document you can check yourself.
Change history
The site’s code and content are public, and every change stays in the repository history with a date; a calendar of these changes is on the Polish version of this page (in Polish).
Corrections and contact
Spotted an error, an out-of-date number or a source that no longer works? Write to kontakt@zarobkilekarzy.pl. We check every report, and a corrected text gets a new update date.
The site is for information only and does not give medical or legal advice. How we handle data is described in the privacy policy (in Polish), and we answer the most common objections in a separate text.
